Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Action Week in Cameroon

Improving the health and well-being of a nation’s population remains a goal in public health. While every population is vital, mothers, infants, and children are considered one of the high-risk or vulnerable groups in public health. Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Action Week (MCHNAW) begins tomorrow nationwide in Cameroon, June 16th to the 25th, 2023 [1], with activities ranging from Vitamin A supplementation to deworming and polio vaccination.

Here is a breakdown: MCHNAW will take place in the Centre, Littoral, South, North West, South West, and West regions from June 16th to 18th, 2023 [1], and in the North, Far North, Adamawa, and East regions from June 23rd to 25th, 2023 [1]. The target population during this MCHNAW is infants and children aged six months to 5 years old [1]. Parents or guardians ensure you are home during these dates because distributors will be at your homes [1]. You do not want your infants and children to miss out on these vital public health interventions.

Also, it is important to emphasize here that whenever you hear of community-based organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, and the Ministry of Public Health in your various regions organizing health-related campaigns from disease screenings to vaccinations and many more, these campaigns are free. Try not to miss out on such opportunities.

Reminder: Parents or guardians, if you and your household have not enrolled yet for Phase 1 of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC), please do so. Registration is still ongoing. Enroll here; https://csu.minsante.cm/enrollment.
