Nobody is Above Coronavirus (Covid-19)

If you choose not to listen to experts or follow the preventive measures and guidelines implemented by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), then it is just a matter of time before the unthinkable happens. When news broke about Donald Trump, the President of the United States and Melania Trump had tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19), I was not surprised [1]. Frankly, I am actually surprised it took this long for him and some members of his clique to get infected. This is a man that had refused to listen to experts, respect any guidelines and even had doubts if Covid-19 existed. Imagine all the people he had been in contact with. He attended several campaigns; no masks were worn, no distance and handshakes.

I wonder what his supporters and followers are thinking right now. What are they saying? Do they now believe Covid-19 is real? Will they now respect the preventive measures? I am really curious and wish I could actually hear their thoughts. But again, we are talking of people who are extremely stubborn and selfish to the point where there are willing to put other people’s lives at risk. It is as though his followers and supporters are not thinking for themselves. I honestly cannot fathom this type of unruly behavior. Now a thousand or dozens of people have been exposed, giving public health professionals a hell of a task now. Anyone and everyone that was at that election campaign or been in close contact with the President, needs to be isolated and quarantined immediately. No exemptions.

While others doubt his diagnosis and calling this a “political” stunt, I am hoping a lesson has been learned here. Covid-19 does not discriminate and knows no boundaries. So keep this in mind; nobody is above the preventive measures and Covid-19.
